The New curriculum reform is a profound change of China's fundamental education.Under the new curriculum history pedagogy should conform to the trends of quality education and educational reform. Homework of History is an important part of consolidation in the performance of history teaching and learning, whose need for reform is self-evident. We should recognize the problems our high school history assignments facing through researches and learn from the American's experience. We also should explore how to push forward the high school history assignment reform through contrast and gaps between these two countries, which help to make the history assignment become a good way to reinforce what they have learnt in class and cultivate students' exploratory competence and history thinking ability.Through designing a questionnaire about the high school students' attitude and psychological status towards the history assignment, I made researches on the students from shanghai Jianping High School, shanghai NO.60 middle school and shanghai huijin high school. I have went deep into reality and find the truth, which will help me to get a lot of reliable information and make them theoretical basis. And at the same time, my discussion about American high school history assignment is based on a large amount of original materials which are looked impressive. The aim of my research is trying to find the differences between the Chinese and American high school history assignments (World History) through the comparison and provide precious experience for the new curriculum reform and form new concepts of history assignment in this new situation. I think this research will play an active guiding role of changing our education idea, implement the target of new curriculum reform and promote the quality education.My thesis consists of five parts. First, I will point out the value of this thesis by looking back to the results of researches on comparison between the Chinese and American high school history assignments. Second, I will analyse high school history assignment and design a questionnaire to get the first-hand information, do the data analysis and draw a conclusion. Third, I will start from the original materials to have a discussion about American history assignment in detail and find out their advantages. Forth, I will use the methods of contrastive research to compare Chinese history assignment and those of American systematically and try to find the differences, which will educe some revelations and reflections on our high school history assignment reform. Fifth, according to our poor situation and American experience, I will question how to change our minds and I will also provide my advices.
