Research On Parent-teacher Conferences In The Kindergartens

Parent-teacher conferences mean teachers and parents who talk face-to-face in specific goals orally. It is an important form of collaboration of family-kindergarten. The research firstly analyses the relevant documents and elaborates enlightens for this research. The theories of Environmental Psychology, Symbolic Interaction and Learning Community are used to be as the base.This research uses the methods of interviewing, questionnaire-survey, observations and documentary analysis to gather information from directors, teachers, parents and others, and focuses on the values, process, communication and difficulties.The results show that parent-teacher conferences is still necessary nowadays; high efficiency, collectivization and face-to-face make this form quite different from others; most of kindergartens organize parent-teacher conferences at regular intervals(usually at the beginning and the end of the terms); it is often in the scale of classes; the content is about the development of children during a period of time; telling is used most, sometimes discussing and having a lecture also appears; teachers take attention to the preparation of parent-teacher conferences, and the follow-up still needs more attention; the attendance is satisfying, and the level of parents'attendance need to improve; the attendance of kindergarten nurses and children is not satisfying; some factors need to improve.Then, some suggestions are made:Kindergartens should take advantage of parent-teacher conferences plenty; more details should be paid attention; parents should make more effect; more people like kindergarten nurses and children should attend parent-teacher conferences.
