"Curriculum integration" is one of the objectives of curriculum reform in basic education, and the integrated science curriculum is one of the most important part for it. The second curriculum reform leads to integrated-apart-integrated model for the whole 12years of primary and middle school science curriculum. The integrated science curriculum is a intermediate integrated curriculum, which is carried out from the 6th to the 7th grades, after the education of nature science until grade 5, and before differentiation into each subject. It can help the students provisionally form world outlook and methodology, and set a foundation for the following learning of various science subjects. This research is focused on the learning of chemistry, carried out with the following 3 aspects:(1) Investigate the status of learning of core concepts and the common alternative concepts of students in different ages by the exam about core concept of chemistry, focused on the model of particles. (2) Investigate the trait and deficiency of students in different ages in lab design. (3) Study the status of science curriculum implementation in shanghai middle school, especially concerns the implementation. Analysis and argumentation is made on the current problems. The study mainly adopts the following methodologies:document study, questionnaire, mathematical statistics and etc. Firstly, try to know the advantages and start point of the integrated science curriculum; secondly, through the examine of concepts, study the target achievement of learning about the model of particles and the relative alternative concepts; then, check the ability of lab design for students in different grades with examinations, analyse the results and intervene the teaching process according to the research for a certain period of time, and make a conclusion on the possibility and the feasibility of improve the ability of lab design through the science curriculum; lastly, find out the key points of the disability of lab design by questionnaire, and give relevant suggestions.According to the research we find that it is helpful for students to learn chemistry concepts by the way in which science curriculum is integrated first and then apart, but actually the experiments if far to be enough because of the experimental constraints; generally, the ability of lab design of students is below the curriculum standard. And we do further and detailed empirical study according to the problems mentioned above, set a basis for the effective implementation for shanghai science curriculum, and also give some suggestions for transition of the following study of chemistry in grade 9 and high school.
