With the coming of economic globalization, English has become a universal language in the international community. For high school students, a good command of English is not only the basic requirement to pass the college entrance examination successfully, but also a fundamental skill in job hunting. However, some junior high school students met a lot of difficulties in adjusting to senior high school. For some students, who used to be outstanding in junior high, their grades dropped a lot in senior high school. Therefore, the transition deficiency of English Teaching from junior high schools to senior high schools has caused serious problems to students, teachers and parents. In recent years, domestic and foreign research on the transition from junior high schools to senior high schools gradually increased, mainly concentrating on young period and old period. Literature suggests that for junior and senior high school English teaching transition problem, the related research is still few. Therefore, this paper selects the students and teachers from one senior high school as the research object, conducted questionnaire and interview to investigate and study the current situation and influence factors of the transition from junior high school to senior high school in English teaching to explore the following questions:(1) What is the current situation of English teaching transition in senior high school?(2) What are the factors that lead to the difficulties for students to adapt to English learning in senior high school?(3) How to effectively reduce the difficulty of transition in English learning in senior high school? This research is based on constructivism learning theory, Viggo J Ki’s recent development zone. It selected 200 students and 30 teachers as the objects of the questionnaire survey. According to the results of the questionnaire, select the 12 students and nine teachers as the interview object. The survey and interview results are as follows:(1)The current situation of English teaching transition in senior high school is not optimistic. Students have difficulty in adapting to high school English, and their learning interest and enthusiasm has declined compared with that in junior high.(2)The factors that lead to the difficulties for students to adapt to English learning in senior high school mainly include:the difference between junior and senior high school textbooks, different teaching methods, the factors of language knowledge (knowledge forgetting, difficulties in reading comprehension and grammar learning), teacher factors (lack of cohesion, teaching idea out of date, improper use of teaching methods and strategies), students factors (lack of learning autonomy, lack of learning interest, not forming good learning habits and easily affected by negative emotions).(3)Based on the results of questionnaires and interviews, the paper puts forward measures from three aspects:teachers, students and teaching materials. The teachers need to renew their teaching concepts, adjust teaching method, strengthen communication with students, and properly weaken the effect of the college entrance examination. Students need to establish the awareness of treating them as the main role in learning, using the correct learning methods, cultivate good study habits, and strive to overcome the effects of negative emotions. For teaching materials, teachers should review and consolidate some basic knowledge in junior high school, such as phonetic symbols, syntax, tense and voice, and so on.
