The 21st century is an era of information explosion. With the rapid development of modern information technology, our country is undergoing a profound education reform. IT teachers in senior high schools are supposed to change their education concept to speed up the reform. To solve the problems existing in the teaching of the information technology course, the inquiry teaching theory is introduced into the daily teaching in the hope of exploring the teaching practice and theory on the information technology course. Based on a semester's teaching practice, a new inquiry teaching model is set up, which is under the guidance of the new course standard and aims to improve the information literacy of students. The basic operation procedures include creating the situation, prompting students with questions, inquiring and practicing, communicating and evaluating, inducting and deepening the expansion as well as further deepening and broadening the studies. This teaching model, as a student-oriented teaching method, attaches importance to the cultivation of students autonomous learning ability by asking students questions. Students'consciousness to inquire actively is greatly improved and their will to inquire is strengthened through inquiring the practice. The awareness to cooperate and compete is raised through communication and evaluation. Students'sense of confidence and achievement is enhanced a lot through inducting and deepening the expansion. Students'inquiry potential is tapped and their inquiry habit is formed through further deepening and broadening the studies.In addition, the author sets up a procedure model for the inquiry teaching plan and presents some inquiry teaching strategies. The procedure model illustrates the procedures of adopting the inquiry teaching plan to the daily teaching for the purpose of standardizing and guiding the teaching behaviors. The teaching strategies are presented to stimulate students'enthusiasm for inquiry and improve the confidence of sticking to inquiry.After the inquiry teaching activities, the author makes a evaluation of the inquiry teaching. It begins to prove that the students'information literacy has been improved obviously with the new teaching method adopted instead of the traditional one. Not only does the inquiry teaching arouse the students'interest in the information technology, but it also raises their awareness of exploring and inquiring. As a result, students make great progress in their study with the marks improved a lot.The article consists of 5 chapters. In the first chapter, the author narrates the background and the importance of researching the inquiry teaching in senior high school. In the second chapter, the author introduces some relevant theories. In the third chapter, the author introduces how to put the theory into daily teaching practice with some teaching plans and case analysis. In the fourth chapter, the author analyses the evaluation of the inquiry teaching after making a full study of the questionnaires in Senior One students and their academic performances. In the last chapter, the author makes a conclusion of the research, reflect on the research, view the direction for future research as well.
