The prosperity of a country depends on education and the success of education on teachers. The elementary education is the base of national education and primary school teachers are the basic guarantee of the education in primary schools. Cultivating piles of primary school teachers with high standard is always the goal of educational reform in many countries. The normal education of UK has gained lots of experience through long-term development. The primary PGCE course has been welcomed by the education of primary school teachers since the development of 80s and is becoming the main course style of primary school teachers training in UK. This text systematically studies the primary PGCE course in University of Exeter which does well in the examination and evaluation of Office for Standards in Education of UK, hoping to set an example for the practice of educational reform of primary school teachers in China.In the part of introduction, it discusses the reasons of the topic, Analysis and definition of related concepts, the research status in and abroad, research ideas, contents and methods. The main body consists of five parts:The first part analyses the setting background of primary PGCE course in University of Exeter from the aspects of history, reality and theory.In the second part,it does a rounded analysis on the current status of primary PGCE course in University of Exeter from the aspect of elements of course constitute.The third part analyses the characteristics of primary PGCE course in University of Exeter on the full understanding from different angles.The forth part is the effect analysis. From three aspects of the content of forming teachers'professional development--professional ideals, professional knowledge and professional competence--it illustrates the efficiency in the practice of primary PGCE course in University of Exeter.In the fifth part, it discusses the illuminations for the education curriculum reform of primary school teachers before work in China after summarizing the rounded analysis of primary PGCE course and the current questions of the education of primary school teachers.
