High school period is a crucial stage for students to grow up, and increase knowledge and students' values are formed in this period. As a special value, the sports value influences students' attitude towards sports and their study of sports and activities. Thus, it is necessary to do research on the status quo of the high school students' sports values. By researching on the status quo of Shanghai high school students' sports values this article intends to provide beneficial references to more effectively promote student's healthy development, promote the development of the school education career, better guide students actively participate in sports activities for high school sports teachers and train students'correct sports values.The author studied 500 high school students' sports values by the use of the revised Sports Value Questionnaire compiled by Zhang Entai. The investigated students (258 boys and 242 girls) are from 6 high schools among which 2 are key high schools and 2 are private ones. The results of the investigation are as follows:(1) The sports values of high school students in Shanghai are diversified。(2) "Individual values" are dominantly positioned on the list of high school students'sports values. The top three are physical fitness, recreation and leisure, and psychology values.(3) The gender of Shanghai high school students exerts obvious influence on their understanding of sports values on interpersonal relationship, recreation and leisure, and psychology values.(4) Both the overall values and the value on every dimension show a decreasing tendency from the low grades to high ones. Meanwhile, The difference on the dimension of education and growth between grade 3 and grade 2 students is obvious, and the situation between grade 3 and grade 1 is the same. There also exist significant difference on the dimension of social harmony between grade 1 and grade 3 students.(5) Students from key high schools achieve higher scores on all dimensions than students from average high schools and private high schools. This is particularly obviously shown on individual factors.(6) Shanghai high school students and university students have similar opinions about sports values. They all put great emphasis on individual values and regard physical fitness values as the principal values. However, there exist divergences on their sports values and their development tendencies.On the basis of the previous survey results, the author proposes:(1) Give full play to the main position role of the school education. To strengthen the high school students'ideological education, promote their sports awareness and enable students to establish positive sports values.(2) To provide favorable campus sports environment both hard and soft. To promote school sports soft environment through various ways, to combine body building and moral education, competition and entertainment, and technicality and fun in physical education. To increase the investment in school sports, to actively support the school sports activities, to improve facilities and to meet the varied sports needs of students.(3) To promote guidance for students, establish reasonable and efficient evaluation systems and strengthen the high school students'study effects. To focus on high school students'sports activities and interests. To promote guidance for students'physical education objectives. To set the development of students'overall health as a starting point and the development of their lifelong physical values as the target. To develop reasonable and effective evaluation methods.(4) To advocate the new sports development mode of combining family, school and society. To form a multi-level, multi-faceted and three-dimensional cultivation and guidance system of high school student's sports values...
