Role positioning is a summation that it consists of a profession consistent set of rights, obligations and behavior pattern. The role positioning of university counselors is to recognize themselves position in the universities. Reviewing the development progress of the college assistant construction since the founding of new China and the history of the change of college assistant role, the most obvious changes is:the name of assistant has changed "counselors" from university counselors traditional appellations "political counselors"; role positioning has developed from the initial single already ideological and political educators to gradually the core educators of guiding students'growing and success, server; the responsibilities also has expanded the whole education, management, and service from the pure ideological and political education, and give students some guide to comprehensive and healthy growth.However, role positioning of counselors who is an important member of education subject is not clear, even wrong in the real world. What is the counselors? What should counselors do? There is no one authority and scientific definition all the time. According to relevant state files regulation, university counselors is an important part of the university teacher and management team and is a teacher,firstly. But in some school, no class and science research is provided for counselors. In the same time, the student administration work does not only include the student daily routine of four years from entering school to leaving school, but also inspection and education activities, which always makes counselors smother. The students call counselors for the "nanny", who is responsible for all things of student. The student will find counselors firstly when something happens. Counselors provides comprehensive instructions for students, including ideological and political education, study and life and so on. They pay more efforts than ordinary teacher and administrative staff. However, they do neither get respected like full-time teacher, nor sit idly in the office and commuting on time like college teaching counselors personnel. What's more, lots of work is done after they come off work. A variety of signs indicates that it is difficult for counselors to become the main role of college work and a lot of work what they do is not approved and the corresponding working reward are difficult to implement. It easily misleads that the counselors is some people who could not do research well or has no abilities. That causes college counselors professional reputation is too low and make them feel inferior and less professional. They don't know how to develop. This shows that counselors is a "Node Location" in the net of society, colleges and students. The counselors face the expection and requirement of the country, college and student, their role has certain complexity.Clearing the counselors role positioning is the basis that the counselors work fruitfully in their basic duty. In this paper, the author refers marxism theory as the guide and follow the basic theory of ideological and political education discipline and also use multiple research methods, including literature methodology, historical analysis, comparative analysis, system research and so on. The purpose of this paper is to find the answers how to design and realize the counselors positioning and functions in the new period and how to realize the real specialization, professional of counselors team.The research thinking is the following1. Review the establishment of the counselors system and its development history, and summarize the transmutation process of counselor role and build the research theory basis.2. Summarize and conclude the basic contents and characteristics of the counselors work in current college, and build the reality basis of research.3. Indicate significance and evidence of the role positioning and teams construction of college counselors in new period, and put forward to thoughts and methods that strengthen and improve college counselors team construction in the new period.4. Build the new pattern of our country college counselors team construction in the future, and account for the founction and role of college counselors in the new period.In my opinion, to find accurate positioning of counselors role, we firstly need to solve the interior differentiation and labor division of the student worker system and the optimization of the student work task structure. Decreasing the counselors burden is the starting point and providing education ability is basic.The main points and conclusion are that the following.1. The development of undergraduate multiply abilities requires counselors multi-role participation. It is inevitable trend that the connotation of counselors role will be more and more rich and actual work difficulty more and more.2. The first step of counselors accurate role location is to solve the problem of differentiation and division labor of the student work internal system and the optimization of the student work task structure.3. The basic idea of strengthening and improving college instructor team construction is that decreasing the burden of the work is starting point; providing education ability is the foundation; changing the idea is the key; institution construction is the core; scientific research training is the guarantee; evaluation system is method. The main points are:Firstly, counselors inner professional attainment;and secondly counselors professional external guarantee.4.In the new the counsellor construction mode, counselors should take resposebility for education guidance, business management and development guidance, their role should transform from "business tye" to "funtional type",from "nanny" to "expert", from "superficial" to"pragmatic", from "one-way infusion" to "promote each other".
