A Research On The Social Responsibilities Of Institution Of Higher Learning Management

Social resbonsibility is now a hot issue.According to the Resolution on Major IssuesRegarding the Building of a Harmonious Socialist Society, it should be raised to astrategic height of buiding a harmonious society that in the developing stage of popularizedhigher education, colleges and universities should aim to meet people's needs of cultivatingpratical talents. Furtherly, the social responsibilities of defining the specific models ofeducation and talents training standards of the colleges and universities are now on the table.How should colleges and universities define their social roles? What social responsibilitiesshould they undertake in the background of market economy? In the past years,the theorycircle in China has begun to explore and discuss the concept of social resbonsibility of higereducation more than before, but the depth of the corresponding research is still limited. Thispaper suggets that there are several aspects which are vitally imporatant to solve the problemscolleges and universities have met while undertaking the social responsibilities. Firstly, theadministration of colleges and universities should be regarded as an important part in societyadministration. Secondly, we should probe the research background, define the research aim,and understand the current research situation of the social responsibilities of the colleges anduniversities. Thirdy,the real problems confronted by the administration of colleges andunivrsities while playing its role in the whole society need deeper discussions;the range of thesocial responsibilities of colleges and universities is to analyzed and defined; and the legal,moral, academical studies, and ideological& political education responsibilities should beattached great importance to; lastly, the social responsibilities should in deed be practised andwork after the research period.Colleges and universities should strengthen the cultivationof Four Abilities of college students--Practice, Invention, Obtaining employment and Startingbusinesses. In the process of the rapid social development, not only the administration ofcolleges and universities bears their bounden social responsibilities, can they bulid a morepositive room of self-development and promote the continuable development of highereducation and the society as a whole.
