Teaching for understanding is an important trend in the field of contemporary education. It brings not only teaching content, teaching methods change, but also means that transition of the teaching value, teaching design and evaluation of teaching outcomes. The current status of teaching: students in the classroom can not reach a true understanding of knowledge, or understanding stay in the primary level, resulting in a "fragile knowledge syndrome." Practice has shown that giving and receiving knowledge-based traditional teaching has been unable to meet the students overall development. Only the pursuit of Knowledge significance with teaching of understanding can make high school language teaching out of the woods and achieve its proper value. Paper based on the characteristics of teaching reading comprehension, dimensions and objectives describes the characteristics teaching of understanding from the three levels of progressive relationships of promoting student understanding, encouraging students to show understanding the and determining whether students understand text, and cases run through it. The main contents are:1, Explore the understanding of multi-perspective view of the field, including: interpretation, psychology, learning sciences. Review home and abroad teaching of understanding and the present situation of language teaching of understanding.2, Describes characteristics of teaching of understanding in high school language: integrity, performance and less teaching and more learning. Propose that from pre-understanding to fusion of horizons is the nature of teaching of understanding in high school language.3, Construct the dimension of comprehension teaching of understanding in high school language, combine with standard high school language curriculum standards, establish teaching of understanding objectives, and reconstruct the text around the goal of understanding.4, Looking for students pre-understanding and understanding barriers to determine the starting point for learning, combined with classroom texts to determine the core issue and with issue guiding teaching, through reading text with cycling and eliminating misunderstanding to ensure the solutions. At the same time with information technology helping to enhance students understanding the text.5, Provide students the opportunity to show their understanding. Construct an atmosphere of tolerance to build the performance of the platform. Learn to listen and actively look forward to arouse the desire of student performance. Provide appropriate tasks to promote students show understanding of the specific content in activities. Through classroom performance of students, assignments and tests, three aspects determine whether students understand the learning content.
