| With the economical and social development in XinJiang Uygur Autonomous Region, more and more people are participating in various fitting recreation and leisure sports. Social sports are springing up vigorously. It becomes a trend that sports are socializing, marketing and industrializing. Due to the strong need of social development, the social sports specialty has been set up in 5 universities of Xinjiang province (it can be found in normal university, comprehensive university and vocational colleges) from 2003 to September, 2008. It's present condition, survival environment, the existing handicaps and countermeasures have attracted universal concern for the long-term development of social sports specialty. The thesis makes a deep research into the present teaching condition, the social demand condition diagnosis and existing problems by using the research methods of document exploration, questionnaire survey, spot investigation, interview and symbolic statistics. Improving measures have been put forward in the thesis for the better growth of social sports specialty in Xinjiang province.The result of research shows that after 5 years of development, the construction of social sports development in colleges in Xinjiang province has begun to show its effect. However, there are still many problems existing in the specialty which include: There is no clear self-judgment. Cultivation aim deviates from the social needs. The curriculum is outmoded. Inadequate teachers and faculty can hardly satisfy the need of the specialty's development. Specialty practicing is the weak link. Teaching material building is out of date. Students'specialty thought is not stable. The specialty is not highly recognized in society. Subjected to the development level of economy and society, the employment market for graduates is not flourished. It's hard for graduates find a job and different businesses have different demand for the social sports specialty graduates.To deal with the mentioned problems, following suggestions are put forward: (1) Proper orientation of cultivation target should be scientific and reasonable combining with the colleges'own advantages based on the economical and social features in Xinjiang province. (2) Optimizing the course constitution contains proper portion of obligatory and elective courses, theoretical and technical courses, with special emphasis on basic public courses, standardizing and putting a much value on practical teaching so as to raise the practicing level. (3) Making effective teachers'cultivation plan is to strengthen faculty's practical competence through various ways like bringing in expert teachers, training original personnel and employing qualified teachers.(4) An excellent professional practicing stage will rely on more investment on improving colleges'own training facilities, and making comprehensive cooperation between social sports business & enterprises and colleges. (5) Various types of teaching forms are set to enhance students'specialty recognition, stabilize their specialty thought and make shift of their traditional job-seeking view. (6) Basing on Xinjing province's regional features, colleges'self-edited teaching material should draw on advanced theoretical and practical experience home and abroad by uniting the experts and scholars of different social sports. (7) The involved government departments and colleges should make joint efforts to standardize the business system of social sports, supervise the professional school teaching, raise it's public recognition and make more market investigation of social sports in order to provide a high professional quality in colleges for the bright future of social sports specialty.
