Female postgraduates are at a superior position in educational and social stratification; however, because of the traditional mode of the marriage, their marriages have been embarrassed, facing with many problems. Therefore, the research on the unmarried female postgraduates'view towards Romance and Marriage will be very helpful to the promotion of their development and happiness as well as the promotion of gender equality, cooperation, harmony and common development.Based on the data collected from 242 unmarried female postgraduates and 113 unmarried male postgraduates who were questioned and based on the depth interviews with 40 cases from the subject of the questionnaire, this paper describes the characteristics of unmarried female postgraduates'view towards romance and marriage and analyzes the correlation between their gender concept and view towards romance and marriage with the support of the Gender Theory. This thesis is divided into five parts, the first part is a brief introduction of the whole study. As a theoretical basis, the first chapter provides an overview of the basic contents of western gender theory and focus on Chinese gender system, culture, ideas which in traditional society as well as its changes since the implement of the policy of the reform and opening up. The second and the third chapter are the main part of the article. In the second chapter, the unmarried female postgraduate students'views towards romance, spouse, marriage, family and happiness are under detailed description. In chapter III, the paper analyzes the relation between the gender concept and the view towards romance and marriage respectively from the three latitude of gender concept------ the view of the society gender roles, the concept of the ideal of gender personality, and the concept of equality between men and women. The chapter IV contains conclusions and reflections of the study, pointing out the shortcomings and advancing some suggestions for a further study.The Study has reached the following conclusions: (1) The traditional elements intertwine with modernity is the basic character of unmarried female postgraduates'view towards Romance and Marriage, which embodies itself in varied degree in five dimensions----- view towards romance, spouse, marriage, family and happiness; (2) there is a significant relation between the gender concept and female postgraduates' concept of marriage. The more modern gender concept is, the more inclination to the modern concept of marriage in the spouse, marriage, family life, and the more inclination to seek emotional and psychological satisfaction in marriages and families, and the more inclination to praise democracy, equality, mutual help and collaboration between the spouses; when one possesses a modern gender concept , she will have more distinct self-consciousness and independent awareness ; on the contrary , the one who has traditional gender concept will more inclined to agree with the concept of "men are more superior than female "or "men are the leader while women are the assistant " , and they will pay more attention to the family, also they will have a stronger dependence on marriage and family .
