The contents of plane geometry are the focus of geometry curriculum reform all along. And the compilation of plane geometry textbook has been always paid much attention to the treatment manners of the contents of plane geometry. With new curriculum reform of countries around the word been, Chinese Ministry of Education also announced Full-time Obligatory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards– Experimental Version (thereafter abridged as Standards) in July 2001. In Standards, the contents of plane geometry is been classified as Space and Figures, including four parts of Knowing Figures, Figures and their Transformation, Figures and their Coordinates, Figures and Proofs. The treatment manner which Standards demands is that experimental geometry before proving geometry about the contents of Space and Figure. In September 2001, experimental textbooks matching Standards began experiment in experimental area. The whole country appears nine editions of junior high school mathematics experimental textbooks(People Education Press Edition, Beijing Normal University Press Edition, East China Normal University Press Edition, Hebe Education Press Edition, Jiangsu Education Press Edition ,Zhejiang Education press Edition, Hunan Education Press Edition,, Jiangsu Science Technology Press Edition, Shanghai Science Technology Press Edition ,and so on) in succession. Development of junior high school mathematics textbooks has been an unprecedented prosperity in china.The already existing research literatures on the junior high school mathematics experimental textbook are comparative little about the contents of Space and Figure. And the treatment manner of the contents of Space and Figure is also litter. So, this thesis makes a comparative research on their the treatment manners of the contents of Space and Figure, which are three editions of People Education Press Edition, Beijing Normal University Press Edition, East China Normal University Press Edition which are widely used in the whole country, and applying in Gansu Province. The study problems of the thesis are what are Characteristics of the treatment manner of the contents of Space and Figure about the three editions textbooks? What are the treatment manners of the contents of Space and Figure about the three editions textbooks having effects on teaching?This thesis uses the method of historical documents, the method of comparative analysis, the method of text analysis, etc. By studying above two problems, it obtains following conclusion. The three editions of experimental textbooks all use the treatment of experimental geometry before proving geometry. The differences are that proving geometry is main and cross with experimental geometry in People Education Press Edition; Beijing Normal University Press Edition entirely separate in experimental geometry and proving geometry; East China Normal University Press Edition has obvious division about experimental geometry and proving geometry but experimental geometry pass through proving geometry. And the treatment of the three editions of experimental textbooks always has favorable effect and unfavorable effect on their teaching, not always a case. At last, it has following suggestion on teacher teaching and compilation of textbooks. Teachers should enhance experimental geometry teaching in teaching of the contents of Space and Figure, correctly understand the intention of Compilation, creatively use textbooks; the compilation of textbook should appropriately handle the relation of experimental geometry and proving geometry, and should according to requirements of Standards.
