In order to meet the demand of talented people training for the development of society, Ministry of Education issued and implemented"Physical Education Curriculum Guiding Outline for Common Institutes of Higher Learning in China"in 2003. It raised the basic requirements for PE courses for college students, and came to be the basic foundation of framing the syllables as well as constructing and assessing PE courses among common institutes of higher learning. The outline made specific requirements toward the education of students in five aspects, that is, sports participation, motor skills, physical health, mental health and social adaptation. PE teachers, especially those in common institutes of higher learning, should keep developing with the times, make further research and master the law of sport teaching, as well as change the original teaching method. They should cultivate students'subject consciousness, advocate Open and Inter-communicate Teaching Mode, as well as the Cooperative and Exploratory Study-mode for the purpose of bringing up students'exploratory awareness, spirit of innovation, cooperative awareness, and continuing to find out the best way to improve quality-oriented education and to realize the all-round development.Since the outline was implemented, a lot of educators carried out many theoretical and testing researches. However, it is not common to apply research of Exploratory Teaching-mode to PE course in common institutes of higher learning. Based on the requirements of the outline, and the Aerobics course characteristics of common institutes of higher learning, this article makes a research on the application of the Exploratory Teaching-mode to Aerobics course by means of experimentation, documentary data method, questionnaire and survey method, as well as statistic method. The research covers several aspects such as teaching contents, teaching procedure, process control. It mainly develops experimental research toward motor skills, study interests, spirit of innovation, cooperative awareness. Result shows that to apply Exploratory Teaching-mode to Aerobics'courses in common institutes of higher learning can effectively raise students'study interests and study initiative, help students to master technique movement quickly, and rapidly update students'skills. Meanwhile, it will have positive influence on improving students'spirit of innovation, cooperative awareness. This research suggests as follows: to develop Exploratory Teaching-mode in Aerobics course should not only emphasize students'prominent role, but also stress teachers'dominant position. Centering on the teaching aims of Aerobics course, teachers should create exploratory conditions, combine"cognition and body movement"in their teaching and encourage students to develop inner class exploration and outer class exploration. Teachers should continuously improve their own culture quality and academic level as well as level up their spirit of innovation in order to foster and improve students'overall quality in the process of further deepening reform of education.
