Ministry of Education issued High School Geograohy Curriculum Standards (Experimental)in 2003, for curriculum standard philosophy,combining the current development fact, High school geography textbooks in our country breaked the traditional one outline a book form, and emergencied a plan with many books. The fourth versions of Middle school georgraphy textbooks in our country are published respectively by People's Education Press,China Cartographic Publishing House,Hunan Education Press and Shanxi Education Press.These fourth textbooks began to be experimented in Guangdong, Shandong, Ningxia, Hainan provinces in September 2004 , and then gradually extended to other provinces.The implementations of new round education reform are based on curriculum reform, while curriculum reform must cause teaching materials reform.Then reseach teaching materials and conclude the problems in implementation of new teaching materials, and propose relevant countermeasures is an important method to drive new curriculum reform.The design of paper is,firstly ,combining the present actual station in our country, proposed the relationships among education reform, curriculum reform and textbook reform,meanwhile giving the research questions and purposes in the paper by combining the actual station of High school georgraphy materail reform.Secondly, by comparing characteristics of High school georgraphy textbooks with foreign (mainly U.S., UK, Japan), in combination with the actual situation of education reform, analyzed surface system of gerography materials in experimental areas (text systems, imaging systems, operating systems), summarized the characteristics of new curriculum standard geography materiasl published by Hunan Education Press.Lastly, by the ways of teaching in experimental area, conducting questionnaires and interviews to teachers and students in experimental area,analyzed the using contion of new materials in experimental area (Henan Province),and proposed relevant countermeasures and suggestions.In this paper, education and scientific research methods like document analysis, interviews, questionnaires, observation and others, are used to research on characteristics and inplementation stations of High school georgraphy new materials published by Hunan Education Press and proposed countermeasures toward problems in implementation, which has theoretical and practical significances to the future establishment of geography materials, the effective use of teachers and students.
