| Children'sindependence,knownastheinternaldrivingforceforself-development,isthefoundationandkeytothepersonalityformationAge from 3 to 6 is the period of rapid development in terms of children'sautonomyandindependence.Familyplays animportant roleinestablishingchildren'sindependence, on which fathers'participation has a more active effect in their uniqueways and game-like styles. Culture provides targets, expectations and standards forfathers when they involve the education. Fathers of different ethnic groups involvedin family education show different characteristics, which have different impacts onthedevelopmentofchildren'sindependence.This study combines questionnaire and interview research methods. 349 childrenagedfrom 3to6andtheirfathers ofbothHui and Hannationalitywas investigated inorder to understand the father-involved familyeducation and children's independencedevelopment. On this basis, the author analyzes and discusses the relationshipbetween them from the cultural respect with the aims to explain the influence of thesocial and cultural factors on children's independence and father-involved familyeducation.Theresultsarethefollowingones:1. There is difference in the independence of children aged from 3 to 6 betweenHui and Han nationality. All the children's degree of self-dependence is at a lowestlevel, obviously lower than self-control and self-advocate. However, children of HuinationalityarebetterthatofHaninself-dependence,whilechildrenofHannationalityaresuperiortotheircounterpartsinself-advocate.2. Children's independence is influenced by both gender and age. All the girl'sdegree of independence is higher than that of boy's. Children's independence of Hannationality continued to improve as they grew older. But children's self-control andself-advocateofHuinationalitydeclinesattheirageof5.3. A glaring ethnic discrepancy has emerged between father-involved familyeducation of Hui nationalityand its Han counterpart. As the Han children grew older,their fathers participate more in family education, while the Hui fathers'involvementinchildcaredeclinedat theirchildren's ageof5. All thefathers paymore attentionto boysthangirlswithregardtofamilyeducation.4. Father-involved family education of both Hui and Han nationality issignificantly related to children's independence. As fathers participate more in familyeducation,theirchildren'sindependenceincreases.5. There is a significant ethnic difference between Hui and Han nationality in theinfluence of father-involved family education on children's independence. Huichildren's self-dependence is significantly related to fathers'interaction andsupervision, while Han children's self-dependence is significantly correlative withfather'srulesandindirectsupport. |
