One foundation of this paper was the analysis of modem curriculum theories as well as the historical necessity and trends of STS (ScienceTechnology- Social Life) education.In addition, a large amount of practical experiences of STS teaching in general schooling have been gathered and evaluated.Deriving from this, the importance of STS for modem Chinese education have been dealt with and corresponding educational objectives formulated.The paper also covers different models of how to plan, organize and implement CTS education (Chemistry- Technology- Social Life), a special sub-discipline of STS, with the help of system theory.Further, the importance of CTS to improve teaching and learning in Work and Technology Education was examined. In this connection the paper refers: to the function of Technology Education and its role for the all-round developed personality, to the interrelationship between Science and Technology and to the increasing role of Work and Technology Education for general education.Considering teaching methodology the project-oriented teaching and learning was considered an appropriate means to deal with CTS topics in the subject of Work and Technology Education.Finally, different topics and projects to teach CTS in lessons have been developed and tested with the help of experienced teachers in Primary and Middle Schools.Fu XiaofangDirected by Shen Liming...
