As the information highway bringing a new challenge and opportunity, education is faced with the profound reform. The conventional education pattern has not been adapted to the need of information society. Along with the development of the computer and network technology, network teaching already has been a necessary direction. Now, many developed countries do a lot of research on the aspect. Network teaching in our country is on the underway level and needs a further investigation.Above all, the thesis reviews the developing of the not and network teaching in these years and analyses some products about it. It discusses the data communication's characteristics in network teaching. Based on these discussions and the developing status of network, CPU, data compression etc. , it proves the network teaching flat design with software based on LAN is feasible. On the system's requirement analysis, it designs the main function module, such as screen broadcasting, screen supervisor, remote controlling.The main task in system design is that real-time images transport on LAN. The important characteristic of image information is its great data quantity. So it must use data compress. The thesis adopts running length encoding and huffman compression. For enhancing efficiency, the compression section's program uses by assemble language. For enhancing transport efficiency, the system designs the multithread program scheme.It uses windows sockets to accomplish communication between server and client, then designs the Network Teaching Control Protocol based on UDP.
