The Transmission Of The Cultural Image Of Martial Arts Under The Cultural Default

There are many unique culture images in Wuxia novels,which have obvious Wuxia significance and Chinese characteristics.Culture image is a kind of cultural symbol formed in the process of cultural development of each nation,carrying a specific national culture and historical origin.Most of the images can make people reminiscent and resonant for the purpose of communication.However,the culture default between the original author and the target readers due to different cultural backgrounds hinders the transmission of cultural images.At present,cultural exchanges between China and the West are gradually increasing,and Chinese Wuxia culture has gradually appeared on the Western stage.The translation of Wuxia novels is the way to achieve cultural exchange.However,the rich cultural images in Wuxia novels make many translators flinch.The novel of She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan,as a classic masterpiece of Jin Yong,has been widely concerned by the society for a long time.However,the culture default makes it difficult for readers in other countries to understand the culture images of Wuxia and integrate into this Wuxia world.The first volume of the Legend of the Condor Heroes-A hero born,translated by Anna Holmwood,was the first official publishing version and published by Mac Lehose Press in 2018,which triggered a global response from all walks of life.Therefore,this study chooses the Legends of the Condor Heroes-A hero born as the research object.However,culture default leads to the absence or dislocation of culture image transmission in the translation,which affects the communicative effect.So the main purpose of this paper is to explore the transmission of the culture images of Wuxia in the Legends of the Condor Heroes-A hero born under the culture default.This paper adopts the methods of literature,case study and the combination of quantitative and qualitative research.The writer collects and sorts out the words with culture images of Wuxia in Chinese and English texts respectively,and classifies these culture images of Wuxia according to different types.From the perspective of Liu Miqing's culture translation theory,this paper makes a case study combining with translation strategies.It is found that Anna Holmwood has realized the profound culture image in the novel,and also has recognized the culture default phenomenon in the original text and the target language.She flexibly applied strategies such as interpretation,literal translation,free translation,transliteration and annotation in the process of English translation to retain the features of the original text to a large extent.To a certain extent,it conveys to the readers of English-speaking countrieswonderful culture images of Wuxia.
