In the past ten years, the mathematics educational conceptions, teaching materials and teaching methods are changing greatly. In order to welcome new century, Japan, Korean, Holland, England, America, Russia, Canada, etc., have reformed the mathematics curriculum. There are some trends and traits in this international mathematics curriculum reform. The flexibility of mathematics curriculum is an important and original trend.In the eighties of 20'" century, some people advocated the slogan of "mathematics for all". The conception "mathematics for all" was accepted widely and caused people to reflect on the mathematics curriculum. Later, people made an agreement that different people must learn different mathematics. In order to realize "different people must learn different mathematics", we must construct the flexible mathematics curriculum. In this paper, we took the senior middle school mathematics curriculum standards, teaching programs and teaching materials as the study object and inquired into the flexibility of senior middle school mathematics curriculum and some pertinent problems.Firstly, from two dimensions of the internal and external of mathematics curriculum, we analyzed the concrete contents of the flexibility of mathematics curriculum.Secondly, the latest developments of the flexibility of senior middle school mathematics curriculum in Korean, Japan, Russia and England are introduced. From this section, we can learn that the contents and forms of the flexibility of senior middle school mathematics curriculum in different countries are quite different.Thirdly, our country has constructed the flexible mathematics curriculum at the beginning of 20'" century. After 100 years' development, the content and form of the flexibility of senior middle school mathematics curriculum have changed greatly. In this section, the evolution of the flexibility of senior middle school mathematics curriculum and its traits in China are introduced. The latest development of the flexible senior middle school mathematics curriculum in Hong Kong is introduced.Lastly, we analyzed two primary problems and gave an idea of construction of the flexible senior middle school mathematics curriculum. And we provided a concrete precedent of the flexibility of senior middle school mathematics curriculum.
