With the advent of the new age, the basic and strategic function of education will become more and more important. In the international competition of the future, the one who wins education will grasp the initiative of the world. China, as a developing country, in order to become a world power, must pay more attention to higher education and its reform. However, the reform of both higher educational system and teaching system involves changes of educational thought and educational concept.On the basic of studying the history of modern Western and Chinese educational thought, through comparing Western and Chinese educational thought after the World War Two, the thesis, based on facts, carries forward the essence of educational thought and denies its dross, and work out how to face new opportunity and challenge after joining WTO, thus to promote the development of Chinese education to fit in with the condition of our nation and the international tendency.
