Short-track speed skating athletes' cutting injuries are the most serious damages to athletes among sport injuries of the item. Serious ones may endanger an athlete's life. In order to find out the reasons for bringing cutting injuries, pertinently set down countermeasures that may prevent cutting injuries, the thesis 'investigates the situationof damages to short-track speed skating athletes' for 76 athletes that took part in 2000-2001 contest season countrywide short-track speed skating series competitions. And on the basis of the findings of the investigation, ten items of countermeasures preventing injuries are set down. And in the form of questionnaire it also investigates Chinese and foreign athletes, coaches, and judges totaled 60 persons who took part in the competition of 2001-2002 contest season world cup short-track speed skating series competition Changchun station. The thesis combines analysis of contest videos in recent years and interviews with professionals to research into the reasons for short-track speed skating athletes' cutting injuries and countermeasures preventing injuries through information in many aspects. The findings indicate that:1. The incidence rate of Chinese short-track speed skating athletes tends to rise.2. The probabilities of occurrences of cutting injuries are basically same when short-track speed skating athletes compete and train, which are respectively 50.8% and 49.2%. It is suggested that coaches and athletes should completely carry protective dev ices whether during a contest or training.3. For short-track speed skating athletes the parts that tend to be injured are ankles and legs. The incidence rates are respectively 29.2% and 15.4%.4. The rate of incidence of cutting injuries is higher in the item of short distance and high speed. The highest incidence rates are men 5000 meters relay and 500 meters item, are 27.1% and 25.3% respectively.5. The main sites where short-track speed skating athletes cutting injuries occur are track curve region, especially the location of coming out of track curve, it is 49.2% of total cutting injuries.6. Breaking the rules are the main reasons for tumbles and resulting in injuries, it is 60.6% of total cutting injuries. Among others breaking the rules to exceed and breaking the rules to scramble for advantageous location tend to tumble furthest. Butthe proportion of injuries that are caused by tumbles without breaking the rules can not be neglected; it is 39.4% of total cutting injuries. It shows that Chinese athletes' counterbalance ability has yet to be improved.1. At present, Chinese short-track speed skating athletes have higher sense to prevent injuries, and their protective behaviors are also more active to prevent injuries.8. At present the coiinlermeasures that may be implemented rapidly are that:(1) In the aspect of preventing injuries, the strength of training to prevent injuriesshould be increased, and athletes' self-protective ability should be improved.(2) The strength of protective cushion where coming out and entering into track curveshould be enhanced.(3) Judges at the sites where the rules are often broken should be added.(4) Reinforce further athletes' training for anti-interference.9. The countermeasures that may be implemented by conditions created actively are as follows:(1) Design and manufacture protective devices that are of higher protectionability andmore comfortable for athletes to wear.(2) Enlarge the competition ground properly, add speed down cushion belt betweenwater surface and protective wall.10. Under the premise of no contradiction with the above countermeasures, the countermeasures that we should make great effort to carry out are as follows:(1) Enhance the strength to punish athletes who exceed from inside.(2) Organize to develop protective device for skates.(3) The qualification to determine that an athlete enters a next competition should bechanged as "a place in a group competition a plac...
