Together with the rapid development of curriculum reform on basic education and the implementation of the revised new curriculum for senior middle school, a higher quality is required for teachers of senior middle school. The most effective way is to have teachers trained in order to understand the new curriculum correctly and implement it effectively. Using tools of investigation, documentary and history studies, this paper thoroughly explained the essential role of teachers training in curriculum reform according to the educational situation in senior middle schools and the teaching adaptability of new curriculum for teachers in Hexi areas of Gansu Province. Exploration is made about measures to promote the teachers' participation in training so as to improve their adaptability in curriculum reform. The aim of this paper is to provide some rationale and ideas to strengthen and improve the teachers' training. There are three sections of the article.Section One: Analysis on teachers' role in curriculum reformThrough explanation about the relations among curriculum, teaching and teachers, this section analyzed the major roles of teachers in curriculum reform. Teachers should be regarded as "action researcher" in this renovation. Because of the close relationship between curriculum and teachers, there will be many changes in teachers' ways and behavior of teaching during the course of curriculum reform. Through teachers training, great progress can be achieved for teachers' understanding about the objectives, significance, new methods, and new contents of curriculum so as to improve teachers flexibility in the course of curriculum reform.Section Two: The investigation and analysis on the teachers' adaptability for curriculum reform at senior middle schools in Hexi AreasA brief introduction was made about the present situation of senior middle schools in Hexi Areas. The investigation questionnaire survey was conducted for teachers in the practical teaching situation so as to find theirunderstanding, identification and adaptability to the new curriculum. Objective description and analysis are made about the present situation of teachers' teaching. There are some issues found through this questionnaires investigation, such as different opinions between teachers teaching and new curriculum; the disparity of teaching ability; the shortage of comprehensive knowledge and application skills of information technology, etc. It is highlighted that teachers' training should be strengthened and improved so as to make teachers adapting to the new curriculum reform.Section Three: Measure for teachers' active participation and quick adoption in curriculum reformBased on the conclusions in Section Two and Three, further exploration is made about effective measures of teachers' participation in the action of curriculum reform. Firstly, the publicity and advocacy should be strengthened so as to motivate the strong support from the teachers and the society; Secondly, the allocation of educational resources should be optimized so as to set up the effective management mechanism of teachers' training. The teachers' training mechanism should be established with clean responsibilities at provincial, prefecture, county and school level. Thirdly, the correct ideas should be formed for teachers' training. Through the development of key-teachers' training, educational research activity, and information technology application to construct various ways and forms for effective teachers training; Fourthly, the training for trainers should be strengthened; Last, the investment for teachers training should be increased. Various channels for teachers training should be opened to establish teachers training funds through government investment, social and individual donations.
