With the transformation of the society, a large number of peasant migrants have flowed to the urban areas, followed by more of them in the future, thus the study of their urban adaptation to the urban society has an important practical significance. Taking the peasant migrants to Chengdu as a case and starting from theories of socialization, modernization, urbanization, marginalization, discrimination and immigration, applying the qualitative and quantitative analysis, this thesis discusses the peasant migrants' economical, social and psychological adaptation of the urban society, paying more attention to the effects on them by their interaction within their groups, as well as further analyzes the influences on the peasant migrants' social adaptation by household registration system, the peasant migrants' discrimination against the urban habitants and vice versa. As the thesis argues, based on a low demand, peasant migrants have a strong economical adaptability, while, socially speaking, their outer adaptation is quite distinct in terms of clothing, sanitation and such, characterized by their entertainment and interaction based on ties of blood and geographic origin and rare communication with the urban citizens. Psychologically speaking, the peasant migrants lack the sense of recognition and belonging in the city, but some of them have distinct changes of values. In general, the peasant migrants' social adaptation is of primitive level.
