The problems of population, resource and environment are more and more serious all over the world now. Human beings have learnt from past experiences that there are problems in a developing country, and are now exploring the concept of sustainable development in which populating control resources, and core of the environment can be brought into balance and harmony. Changing old and often unavoidable ideas is the basis for a new model of sustainable development and re-education of the whole population is essential. The five important factors in sustainable development are population control, use of resources, care of the environment, economic considerations and social conditions and these form the content and core of teaching quality geography studies in the middle school. Children are the future of China and learning plays a very important role. However, we find a big gap between the reality of teaching geography and implementation of the factors outlined above. To fulfill the functions of geography teaching in the sustainable development strategy, accelerating the study and reform is very necessary.The essence of educational reform is to change the traditional education model. So it is very necessary for the teachers to continue to study and implement a new educational mode for sustainable development in their teaching. Theories of a sustainable development strategy demand quality education, and this is the subject of my dissertation.Under the guidance of John. Dewey and Bacuwa^ Arekcapobuy Cyxouy H cku u 's educational theories and the modeling, I present the teaching aims that correspond to the sustainable development strategy and demands of quality-oriented education, and develop the students' critical ideas, and develop their speaking, organization and writing abilities. Developments of cooperation; and students' consciousness of caring environment and society, are all important strategies when teaching sustainable development and the quality of using sustainable development strategy to settle all kinds of problem.I propose two educational models for implementing sustainable development strategy. One is Cooperation and Research; the other is Implementation and Development. The procedure of the first one is activating a questioning technique together with problem solving presenting the questions and solving the questions the summing up; the second oneis to present the aims, collect materials and develop ideas in groups then sum up or write the dissertation.The two educational models I propose are research and questioning, and cooperation and problem solving.Finally, I give an objective evaluation for the two educational models from two aspects of theory and practice. With the two models, students can have a firm grasp of sustainable development, and have the idea of sustainable development in the mind deeply, and also develop their good habits and qualities of observation, analysis and problem solving. Developing ideas and abilities, however, not only needs time, but cooperation with other courses. At the same time, there are a lot of limitations in conditions in implementing the two educational modes. Studying new educational models is to abandon the old one. Developing is just like imitating, I also hope more and more educationists will understand the two models deeply and redesign them, then develop newer educational models for developing students' ideas of sustainable development.
