Sustainable development, which gives full expression to the spirit of the scientific concept of development in real terms, is China's economic and social development guidelines. School education is the key to achieve awareness of environmental ethics, values and behaviour, as well as to change habits, improve skills and to ensure public participation Therefore, school education should establish a new outlook on education and be re-designed, which sets an extremely important concept to the development of contemporary education , it relates to the possibility of a major breakthrough made by the Sustainable Development Education ; it also relates to the success or failure of education in the 21st century and the fate of mankind itself .As the concept of sustainable development was putting forward, it has formed an unprecedented impact to school education, more opportunities and challenges. After 1987 when the concept of sustainable development was brought up, the international community began to explore ways to promote education as a factor in support of sustainable development.。School education have been given a new mission, which was considered key of means to the fate of human existence. However, with the background with sustainable development , school education is faced with a series of contradictions, which needs to be re-examined the redefined . On December , 2002, The general assembly of United Nations decided to launch the "Decade of Education for Sustainable Development" campaign, from 2005 to 2014 , the work on Sustainable Development Education is going to be carried in the global scope .Generalized theory of Sustainable Development Education, can not meet the needs of practical activities of school education. to carry out the theoretical research of Sustainable Development Education for school, to build a theoretical system of school education in line with China's actual educational reality, are not only a way to pursue a further promotion and improvement on the generalized theory of Sustainable Development Education , but also urgent affairs to make effective practices of Sustainable Development Education in school.The fundamental purpose of school to carry out activities of Sustainable Development Education, is to enable learners to form ideas of Sustainable Development, re-built ethics and values which are in line with the sustainable development , to enhance learners the awareness and ability of the Sustainable Development, as well as to raise the basic ability of participating in regional and global Sustainable Development activities. Thus lerners can form life skills for Sustainable Development. On the one hand, Sustainable Development Education is intended to make each learner"the people of Sustainable Development"who has got an educated awareness and capacity of Sustainable Development ; On the other hand, to make the leaners affecting the people around them through their thoughts and actions, arousing the whole society a sense of crisis to survive and responsibility of Sustainable Development, promoting the overall quality of permanent residents of the region . further sustainable development of region society ,economy, ecological environment will be propelled. Therefore, carrying out theoretical research for Sustainable Development Education, is of great importance.First, to push onward theoretical research of Sustainable Development Education. by carrying out related research in the field of education, it is more easy for people to eliminate the differences and misunderstandings the theory of Sustainable Development Education , to form the theoretical system of Sustainable Development Education and develope rapidly. Secondly, to raise the scientificity ,applicability and effectiveness education for practice of Sustainable Development Education. People are able to reach a consensus on the active role of Sustainable Development Education , but at the same time, there have also been a trend of expansion and enlargement of the function of Sustainable Development Education. Since there is quite a deficience in theory of SDE, the current practice of Sustainable Development Education fo showed a certain degree of disorder and blindness, and people are even unable to determine whether the existing activities of Sustainable Development Education are of scientificity and applicability. Study on theory of Sustainable Development Education will help to understand the concept of Sustainable Development Education,get a better understanding of the characteristics of Sustainable Development Education, accurately grasp the law of activities of Sustainable Development Education, find out the current problems in the existence of practice of Sustainable Development Education. Thus the effective measures will be made to finish the targeted task. Third, to offer help on the international exchange and foreign cooperation. development of the theory of Sustainable Development Education influences or even determines the level and kind of Sustainable Development Education in a global commonality, relates to the quality of practice of Sustainable Development Education. rising from educational practice to educational theories means that people made improvement to understand the grasp the law of Sustainable Development Education.Only responsibility, sense of mission and values of citizens of the Earth are defined, clarified from the theory , will it be possible to protect the consistency of the global practice of Sustainable Development Education and keep its direction . In theory, only issues of the global environment and development such as the causes ,hazards, the relevance interests of the educated individual and the rights & responsibilities of the educated individual are revealed and classified in theory , will it be possible to improve the effects of Sustainable Development Education and to ensure high standards and high quality of the practice of Sustainable Development Education .Scientific Study Method is one of the means to accurately reflect the objective laws of the objects of study. only using scientific methods to study the phenomenon of education can we arrive at scientific conclusions, as well as develop educational theory. The adopted study method in this research includes method of historical, methods of literature study and method of material analysis. The existing data has been checked and arranged ; the occuring and developing of Sustainable Development Education has been revealed by collecting history facts. Using scientific theories as a guide, through the method of analysis and synthesis, logic approach of inductive and deductive to collate materials, the objective laws of Sustainable Development Education can be reflected in theory based on the earlier theoretical research. The main contribution of this study and its conclusions are as follows: First, the the definition of the concept of Sustainable Development Education is put forward , thus the connotation of the concept of SDE is clarified. By drawing a clear dividing line between the broad concept of SDE and the narrow definition of the concept, the standardization of the usage of the concept has been increased, which leads to facilitate theory studies and academic exchanges. Narrow concept stands for Sustainable Development Education of School, that is, Sustainable Development Education is a set of purposeful, planned, organized educational activities for students on the dissemination of knowledge related to sustainable development , as well as on the promotion and formation of ethics values of sustainable development . Sustainable Development Education of School also aims to improve the understanding of sustainable development of students, to Increase skills and practical ability.The meaning of the concept are in different layers:①the constituent elements of Sustainable Development Education: School is the educational premises, the participants in educational activities are teachers and students;②Sustainable Development Education has regional ,social features , and can only be organised in stages. The purpose of the aim and educational content of SDE are restrained by the strategy of Sustainable Development as well as the regional situation of politics and society and economy;③the meaning of Sustainable Development Education points out the ways and methods, that is, in schools through the joint participation of teachers and students to carry out educational activities.Second, through the different perspectives of theory and practice of Sustainable Development Education, by theoretical analysis and systematic thinking on Sustainable Development Education , some new ideas for Sustainable Development Education are put forward The value of SDE is human-oriented towards all-round development of students .through the transformation and reshaping of the natural values of students, re-understanding the entitative relationship of man and man, man and nature, SDE carry its point of improving the students'basic ability to survive and live;Study object of Sustainable Development Education is the educatinal activities in the field of school education, which includes problems of policies, strategies, curriculum, teaching methods on Sustainable Development Education. Sustainable Development Education should be a separate academic subject.;Study of Sustainable Development Education aims to promote development of theory and practice of SDE in the context of cultural diversity ,so Sustainable Development Education is both an applied science as well as a theoretical science. Educational activities of Sustainable Development Education are the organic composition of educational activities in schools. with a basic characteristics of school education, SDE has both close ties and distinction with the educational activities in schools. Their relationship is likea relation of part and whole, so the academic courses of SDE should belong to the area of school education. School education system is a sub-system of the Sustainable Development system (Sustainable Development system is of the main three sub-systems including economic , natural and social development sub-systems. School education system is one of the sub-systems of the Subsystem of social development). and its Sustainable Development goals are influenced by many factors in which Sustainable Development Education plays a very unique and even irreplaceable role.Third, though tracing the developing history of Sustainable Development Education , we are able to clear the theoretical system of Sustainable Development Education, to constitute the basic theory, to explore the theoretical issues related to the basic content or the core point of view. Discussion, analysis are also done focus on the cause of the developing of Sustainable Development Education. The developing history of Sustainable Development Education is devided into the evolution of "five stages" -----sprout stage, backdoor stage , alternative development stage and theoretical system-in-the-beginning stage, the last stage means that relative consensus has been made on theory and how to go into practice. Analysis has been made on the the basic meaning of the values concept of Sustainable Development Education as well as the the basic content of the value education for sustainable development . this paper points out the affecting factors on the establishing of the aim of SDE, the structure and content of the aims of SED are also narrated. Through theoretical analysis and rational thinking , people cancome to conclusions that the main features of Sustainable Development Education are of: the regional (state) feature, and the stage feature, the diversity feature, the equity feature, the sustainability feature and the common feature; principles recommended that should adhere to on the practice are: the integration principle, the critical principle, the mutual principle of full consideration of popular and professional, the principle of integrating theory with practice, the principle of the unity of autonomy and openness.China is a developing country with a large population, faced with a series of contradictions on Environment and Development, the supporting role of school education is highlighted. To carry out theoretical study on Sustainable Development Education, will meets the needs of China's Sustainable Development strategy, that is ,showing the world China's serious attitude on the solemn commitment, reflecting a sense of responsibility in China's participation on the global Sustainable Development action. It is also an essential requirement of the law of sustainable development educational theory and practice .
