| Cerebral palsy (CP) is a kind of syndrome caused by an injury to the brain before, during, or shortly after birth.Children with CP have damage to the area of their brain that controls muscle tone. Depending on where their brain injury is and how big it is, their muscle tone may be too tight, too loose, or a combination of too tight and loose.According to the clinical characters and profound degree, CP is divided into three grades, which are mild, moderate and profound grade.With development of special education and implement of zero rejection plan in Shanghai, more and more children with profound CP are admitted in special school or institute. How to educate and train them is a very important challenge with which special educators must face.This research tries to have an idea of developmental characters of children with profound CP via a case study, analysis and discuss how to educate and train these children. Using two educational and training ways respectively, the researcher spent one year on educating and training the subject who is a male child with profound CP. After the research was accomplished, the researcher compared the effects of two educational and training ways. Finally, the following conclusions are concluded:1.Developing of children with profound CP follows some special rules. Provided appropriate educating and training, these children with profound disabilities can grow better.2.Modern educating and training ways, such as active intervention and model of individual skills, are appropriate approaches of educating and training, and have significant effects on the children' s development.3.Environments play a very important role in the course of educating and training. Under different environments, the effects of educating and training are different too. The children with profound CP can actively take part in training under the least restrictive environment.4.Developments of children with profound CP intensively rely on the educational and training function of family.At the end of this essay, the researcher puts forward some suggestions for how to educate and train the children with profound CP, which mainly comprise:l.The educators should intervene the children with profound CP comprehensively, and develop children' s good aspects as possible, not recover limbs and kinesalgia function only.2.The educating and training should be finished by cooperation between family and school, which are the best educational and training approaches for children with profound CP. |
