Theory And Case Study On The Confirmation Of Urban Population Scale

It has stepped into an accelerated development stage ofurbanization in our country today. Urban population increases sharply, flows more frequently than ever. The scale of urban population, as the most direct embodiment of city's size and grade, which determines the scale of urban land and infrastructure construction to a great extent, is the foundation of urban administrators and policymakers grasping city's current development situation, predicting city's development trend, making city's development strategy. The scale of urban population has become one of the most important research fields in urban science because of its mutability and the importance of determining it. The urban physical area is established in this paper to determine current scale of urban population. In this way, urban population is corresponded to urban physical area. The method of systematic and dynamic analysis is also adopted in the paper, structures a set of appraisals system of urban population growth to forecast the urban population development of each different grade cities in the region.This paper is divided into five chapters:Chapter 1 establishes this paper's research purpose, innovation, framework and route from the background of this study.Chapter 2 is the survey of relative researches that has been done at home and abroad. Through summarizing the achievement in the researches of these respects, such as current scale of urban population, forecast of urban population scale growth and population migration between urban and rural areas, etc, the foundation of this theory and case study is put up in this chapter.Chapter 3 regards urban physical area as the key point, confirms current scale of urban population by proposing the principle, index, and method of delimiting urban physical area.Chapter 4 structures systematic and dynamic method through analyzing the classification of urban population growth, then makes prediction to the urban population development of each different grade cities in the region.Chapter 5 carries on a case study on the basis of theoretical research of front to verify it's scientificity and suitability in the concrete practice.
