The Current Situation, Reason And Countermeasure About Students' Independent Study Of Open Education In TV University

The education ministry has put forward to implement the distance education project, form the open education network, and construct lifetime study system in the action plan of vitalizing education towards the 21st century. In 1999, Education Ministry sanctioned central TV university personnel training mode reform and open education pilot project study, hereafter referred to as TVU open education. It is one of the key items of the action plan of vitalizing education towards the 21st century. The national broadcast and TV universities are making efforts to advance the development of pilot project study, explore the mode reform of personnel training, and enforce the quality mind. The sustainable development of education has been realized, and the social benefit is available. But we must be fully aware, for various reasons, the pilot project work is still less than satisfactory in many aspects. It is found that lots of students in TVU have failed in independent study in practice. This influenced the development of open education in TVU to a certain extent. Independent study in TVU open education means in long distant educational environment, we should self-plan, self-select, self-design, self-control and self-assess according to different study stages through many kinds of medias and information transmission technology under the guide of teachers and the help of service system. At present, the students of TVU open education, especially at the basic level TV University show no optimist situation. They relatively lack of independent study. This text combines individual practice, analyses the reason of it, and promotes the strategy of how to change the current situation.The reason shows mainly: independent study consciousness is faint; the inherent motive in independent learning ability is not enough. It is limited for time to study independently; Material conditions are not perfect.According to the above reasons, the text analyses and put forward the following measures: Change the idea; To improve student's independent study ability; Supervise and inspect strongly; To perfect the support and service system which focus on the students.Central TV University "personnel training mode reform and open education pilot project "research work have stepped into the assessment of ending, but as one of the key items of "the action plan of vitalizing education towards the 21st century", its theoretical research and practical exploration still need a long time to work deeply. No matter this on the theoretical system or in practical operation this text is superficial.
