An Economic Analysis Of Education Corruption

This Thesis tries research education corruption in economical method. Education Corruption is a hot spot of society that concerned seriously in recent years. However, few academic researches are available and the researches from economical method are fewer. That is why such kind of research is so currently significant.The thesis is made up of 4 parts.In the first part, the author gives a clear definition of education corruption on the basis of all different definitions of corruption provided by different branches of learning. Education Corruption means staffs that have public powers in education sphere obtain profit for themselves in the process of exercising such powers. The subject of education corruption is staffs in education sphere. The object of education corruption is public authorities. Both are required. The author also clears up some misunderstandings about education corruption, points out that education corruption can be divided into dominant corruption and recessive corruption, corruption on personal style and corruption of rent-seeking. The specific expressions of education corruption are staffs embezzling public funds and demanding bribes, charging fees and distributing diplomas excessively, obtaining profits for themselves in the process of distributing education opportunities.The author analyzes the harm of education corruption in the second part. The existence of education corruption breaks the standards of education and the principles of fair, influences the effective deploy of education materials. Meanwhile, it leads the commercialization of education, influences the function of school, corrupts social morals and makes instability of politics and society.In the third part, the author analyzes the reason education corruption forms. The current situation of education opportunities in China increases the opportunities of education corruption. Lack of education investment is the objective condition leads education corruption. From the analysis of cost-profit to the object of education corruption, we can find low probability of being investigated and personal cost is theimportant element of the staffs being corrupted. Through the research to public authorities, the author points out that lack of normality of public power's exercising, effective supervision and control are critical in the form of corruption behaviors.In order to put education corruption into control, the author provides specific measures as follow: Increase education investment to keep some school running without charging fees excessively and equating education materials; Increase the costs of education corruption, the probability investigation to education corruption and the profits of being honest.; Strengthen the supervision and control to authorities. In order to supervise schools and education administration departments, independent facilities should be set up.
