At the end of Qing dynasty and in the beginning of the Republic of China, "the Study in the US at the Expenditure of War loss Indemnity of the Year 1900" one more set off a new splended chapter of Overseas Education in the US which made use of chances of returned war loss to send TsingHua University's students abroad."The Study in the US at the Eexpenditure of War Loss Indemnity of the Year 1900", a brilliand and special studying-abroad movement brought highter education in China avigorous reform in modern time.It made higher education in China get rise to unprecedented large turbulence and change. Its tendency speeded up the course of educational thought and modern educational system modernization of china.That is to say, gradually democratization, scientization, and liberalization became the main current.During the current, as various American-oriented educational conceptions surged into China, western higher education system and the ideas of opening schools had been generalized, and had a direct effect on contemporary higher education modernization, Which made trend of education such as pragmatism, scientism, and liberalism surging and colorful. It indicated that intellectual had urgent call for the educational reform, and It reflected that people with lofty ideals constantly went in for the modernization of Chinese education. All these led to the coming of Educational system in 1922 on the basis ofAmerica system a symobal of modern highter educational system in China fell into an optional branch of study was finally set up which brought up the reform of teaching method and system of higher education. The appearance of Educational System in 1922 marked the finalization of Chinese contemporary higher education system. The returned students from America such as Guo Bingwen, Mei Yiqi, Zhu Kezhen, had the courage to innovate, exploit and enterprise when they acted as presidents in universities. Therefore, they provided abundant theoretical guidance and practical experience for the modernization of higher education in the Republic of China.The following 4 parts were my thesis's structure, measure of value (the trend of pragmatistic, scientistic, and liberalistic educational thought), measure of system (Educational System in 1922), the analysis of individual example (the educational thought and practice of presidents), historical rethought and the present enlightenment. From these, I demonstrated the relation of "the Study in the US at the Expenditure of War Loss Indemnity of the Year 1900" and the modernization of higher education in China, inquired into the historical power and the current significance, in which "the Study in the US at the Expenditure of War Loss Indemnity of the Year 1900" affected the modernization of higher education in China. In all, "the Study in the US at the Expenditure of War Loss Indemnity of the Year 1900" and the modernization of higher education in China, reappeared a magnificent picture scroll in the 100 year corridor.
