Based on the relevant theories and research findings of Second Language Acquisition and the relevant theories of teaching method, the present paper aims at the positive result of Grammar-Translation method for Tibetan EFL students' English learning, attempting to give some useful suggestions for the improvement of English learning for Tibetan students in university. By means of a set of English test, questionnaire and individual interview for Tibetan college students, the study shows that Tibetan students' mother tongue-Tibetan will inevitably influence their English learning, if Grammar-Translation method is adopted, more positive transfer will occur.The present paper is made up of seven parts. In part one, the necessity and significance of the present study is introduced through analyzing the current situation of the Tibetan EFL students' English study. Part two is concerned with literature review involving valuable findings and important theories in SLA, research and development of the Grammar-Translation method and the Communicative method. Part three deals with the theory basis of present study. Part four gives a detailed introduction to and description of the research method and its contents. Part five deals with data analysis. SPSS 11.5 is used to process the survey data including analysis of test, questionnaire and interview. Part six is general discussion and suggestion on the basis of results of the previous part. The last part is a conclusion, pointing out the value and limitations of the study and putting forward some suggestions for further research.
