The coming into being of knowledge economy and social changes caused by the rapid development of the information society call for personnel of innovation. The cultivation of personnel of innovation needs indivisualized education and knowledge formation based on humans. Therefore, the traditional agricultural higher education system is facing more and more serious challenges.The Instructional Informatization fully employs information technology and the educational concept of humans as the basis and changes the distribution ways of information resources in traditional education and the educational relationships between people. The paper studies the extension and application of informatization in agricultural higher education in the following 5 aspects.(1) Instructional Informatization is a new concept developed with the rapid development of information technology which has caused the evolution of social informatization. It belongs to the category of educational technology. The understanding of the connotation, characteristics, function and significance of Instructional Informatization is the precondition of bettering the extension and application of Instructional Informatization.(2) Scientific understanding of the methods and strategies of extending and applying Instructional Informatization is very important. The application of Instructional Informatization includes the informatization of the learning process and the informatization of learning resources. The theory and practice of informatization belongs to two extension levels. The extension and application of Instructional Informatization is a systematic project.(3) In order to fasten the reform of agricultural higher education, the renewing of educational theories and personnel cultivation concepts is needed. Social changes brings more and more serious challenges for traditional agricultural higher education. The humanistic educational theories underlying in Instructional Informatization and the view of innovation personnel cultivation caters for the needs of reform and transfers the emphasis in education from teaching to learning and emphasizes learning as the main body, from cultivation of specialist education and general education to Yuanist education, which emphasizes the cultivation of diathesis and potential.(4) In order to create a new system of agricultural higher education, the building of informationized campus is needed. The informatization of agricultural higher education calls for the harmonious development of software and hardware. It is necessary to utilize information technology to unify the educational information resources in the network, to unify theoretical and practical teaching, to unify inter-discipline teaching environment, and to unify the characteristics and the advantages of various institutions. Meanwhile, it is necessary to change the teaching and administration model so that it can harmoniously develop with informationized resources.(5) It is necessary to reinforce management to enhance the application of Instructional Informatization. The formation of standardized administration system based on humanistic scientific management will help the harmonious application of Instructional Informatization.
