Class is a specially social stage as well as a formal place for social activity, in which there exits life and vigor, complex structure, setting, interaction and lively life orientation. However, ritual as an inseparable element of teaching and learning in class has been neglected in people's horizon, not to mention the analysis of its function, structure and operation. Therefore, through the study of class-teaching ritual and specific practice, we design to have a discussion of class teaching from a new perspective, so as to make it have a further demonstration and representation.Class-teaching ritual is a series of related systematic interactions produced by settings. It contains rich connotations in multiple representations in given time and space; it is also regarded as the "descriptive" event and of intuition. Therefore, we establish the proceeding picture of overall class teaching by observing the five primary rituals in class teaching from the perspective of a participant- teaching ritual, class preparation ritual , praising ritual , exercise ritual and class ending ritual, with that. From that, we begin to have a clear view of the characteristic and nature of class teaching, which is not the simple superficial phenomenon but an integrated complex structure that contains various functions.Then we analyze the setting outside of classroom in the viewpoint of an observer discovering the nature and connotation of class-teaching ritual from the dimension of structure and operation. In terms of structure, class-teaching ritual can be divided into the superficial structure and abstract structure. The so-called substantial structure refers to the integrated ritual constitutions connected by a series of concrete factors that can be seen, smelt and felt. It is constituted overtly by certain perceivable forms. The ritual abstract structure means the basicelements and their natures are covert. In terms of superficial structure, class-teaching ritual has the characteristics of publicity, isolation and unfairness. In terms of deeper structure, class-teaching ritual is the expression of symbols, it is represented in language symbols, body symbols, appearance symbols and instrument symbols with the characteristics of relativity, symbol, sense and orientation. In terms of process, class-teaching ritual can be looked upon procedures carried out in the series of activities, which present a multi-functional demonstration, it has the functions of communication, drawing the public attention, signaling, crossing and copying cultural hegemony.
