Educational Solicitude: The Indispensable Educational Idea For Modern Society In China

Educational solicitude is the indispensable educational idea for modern society in China. The aim of this paper is to cultivate the "sense of educational solicitude" so as to change our country of many people into the one with abundant human resources. To achieve this aim, this paper analysis the main contents of educational solicitude. From the conception of the educational solicitude, we can deduce that the conception of "existence "is its starting point and "equal educational opportunity" is its core conception. At the end of this paper some measures are put forward.This paper is centered on "the definition, the contents and the measures of educational solicitude ", consisted of four parts.In Part I, in order to support the content and measures following in this paper, this paper analysis the necessity and possibility of educational solicitude and explain the educational ideas of educational solicitude.Firstly, it analysis the necessity of educational solicitude from the aspect of society, education and individuals. Being a modern idea, educational solicitude will help us to build the "learning society" and prompt to equalize the development of education; The individuals' living conditions need to be improved and developed well, so individuals need educational solicitude eagerly.Secondly, it analysis the possibility of educational solicitude from the aspect of government, society and school. Government is the main body of educational solicitude, so it will be responsible for cultivating "the sense of educational solicitude." Society will be responsible for supporting educational solicitude, and schools are the main ways to cultivate the "sense of educational solicitude".In Part II, it's on educational solicitude that is probed from the aspect of"existence". The purpose of educational solicitude is to improve the living conditions for all the people, so concerning on individuals living conditions is also included.In Part III, to analysis "equal educational opportunity "-the core conception of educational solicitude, this paper reviews different definitions of equal educational opportunity, then analysis the status quo and the cause of inequality of educational opportunity. It shows that the different developing levels between areas, classes and sexes are results of educational inequality, economic, system and culture are the deep cause of it.In Part IV, to focus on the educational system of the government, this paper provides some thoughts and suggestions on how to cultivate "the sense of educational solicitude".Firstly, transforming the education ideas is very important. Educational solicitude is not only a kind of the concern on people but also a kind of practice.Secondly, cultivating "the sense of educational solicitude" needs to develop economic level so as to prompt the opportunity of education.Thirdly, cultivating the sense of educational solicitude needs using the experience of other countries for reference. Government should learn from the conception of "inclusive education"; guarantee the performance of compulsory education; take active different treatment and the experiments on the areas of educational priority are also needed.At last, some measures are taken on the improvement of educational system: building and improving the flexibility of education system; improving the educational evaluation system; reforming the system of life-long education; and some other measures related to the reality about cultivating the sense of educational solicitude are also raised.
