Curriculum resource is an important conception put forward in a new round of reform in state elementary education curricula. To make the curricula batter adapt themselves to school students in different areas, the reform not only maps out a frame for state elementary education curricula, but also lays emphasis on that school teachers should carry out the new curricula with creation so that they can form varied teaching methods with much adaptability. Whether or not we can achieve the goals of curriculum reform depends to a large extent on the situation of curriculum resources. We should bring the advantages of curriculum resources in local communities and schools into full play when we are creatively carrying out state curricula and when we are establishing curricula for local schools. Only in this way can we promote healthy and diversified development of children's characters. For school teachers, support form abundant curriculum resources is needed not only when they are exploiting school curricula but also when they are putting state and local curricula into practice. Otherwise, many goals of curriculum reform will come into nothing. However, over a long period of time, school teachers and other educational workers didn't ever come into contact with the conception of curriculum resources, which puts much emphasis on the pressing importance of curriculum resources. As an important part of the school curriculum system, geography offers students an important avenue to develop in an all-round way and to grasp basic geographic knowledge and skills. With the development of China's elementary education curricula, an active exploitation of geographic curriculum resources will ensure a successful implementation in geography. The reason lies in the fact that how widely and how well we can achieve the goals of geography depends on how plentiful the geographic curriculum resources are and how much of theses resources we can exploit. If we exploit various geographic curriculum resources with local conditions, we can bring the advantages of these resources into full play and also we can benefit from their elasticity and local features. To exploit curriculum resources of middle schools has a far-reaching significance in the new round of reform in state elementary education curricula. Teachers, however, have different consciousness and ability of exploiting curriculum resources in different areas, especially in the west of China. Taking the geography teaching in middle schools in Yinchuan for example, school teachers used to implement a firmly controlled curriculum plan due to examination-oriented education and unitary system of education management. Therefore, they were lacking in ability to distinguish and exploit geographic curriculum resources. Even some exploited resources tended to beunitary. In conclusion, measures such as training teachers' consciousness of curriculum resources and raising their skills of exploiting curricula, rationally establishing and optimizing the structure curriculum resources, and building up school geographic curriculum resources bank are important ways of exploiting geographic curriculum resources.
