Esteem and its value of education are always the attracting subjects in educational psychology and moral psychology. In order to deal with the defects in former researches, the connotation of esteem is discussed in the paper firstly. From this research, esteem is proposed as the understanding of students' needs and attitudes, teachers' love and positive expectations, teachers' emotional support to students, educational justice, and the combination of self-esteem and esteem from others. Esteem's role in students' self-concept development is also analyzed in this section in several aspects, such as self-cognition, self-esteem, internalization of value, and behavioral regulation, etc.Then, questionnaire was used in the study of pupils' understanding, emotional experience and attribution to teachers' esteem. And teachers' intention, language and behavior were also considered . The results indicate: (1) Gender difference does not lie in understanding, emotional experience to teachers' esteem but the attribution of teachers' esteem. (2) Difference is found between grades in understanding, experiencing grief, attribution of teachers' prejudice and low study achievement of themselves. (3) Teachers' intention plays an important role in pupils' understanding of teachers' esteem. (4) Teachers' intention, language and behavior can influence the emotional experience of pupils to teachers' esteem. (5) Teachers' intention, language and behavior can also affect pupils' attribution of teachers' esteem.At last the educational value of esteem is discussed.
