Self-concept plays an important role in the development of human beings.The development of self-concept profoundly affects the individual's mental health.The primary school stage is an important stage in the formation of self-concept.In the process of self-concept formation,the academic achievement,social comparison and self-esteem of primary school students have an important influence on the formation and development of self-concept.Therefore,this study uses primary school students in grades 4-6 of Baoding City,Hebei Province as the research object,firstly using the questionnaire survey method,using Dong Qi's revised Self-Concept Questionnaire,Shi Wenyan's Social Comparative Characteristics Questionnaire and Rosenberg's self-esteem scale to survey 600 primary school students.Secondly,semi-structured interview is conducted with 12 primary school students.This study explores the development of social comparison,self-esteem and self-concept of primary school students.SPSS statistical analysis software is used to analyze the relevant data,regression analysis,mediation effect and chain mediation effect.The interview record is recorded by Nvivo qualitative analysis software.A detailed analysis is conducted to explore the relationship between primary school students' academic achievement,social comparison,self-esteem and self-concept.The research conclusions are as follows:(1)The social comparison of primary school students tends to be at a medium level.The social comparison of primary school students does not have significant differences in whether there are only children,birth places and grade.There are significant differences in gender.The specific performance is that boys are more likely to have social comparison than girls.(2)There are no significant differences in the self-esteem of primary school students in terms of gender and grade.There are significant differences in whether there are only children and birthplace.The specific performances are that the only child has a higher level of self-esteem than the non-only child,and the urban students have a higher level of self-esteem than the rural students.(3)The self-concept development of primary school students is above the medium level.There are no significant differences in the self-concept of the primary school students in birthplace.There are significant differences in the gender and the child-only child.The specific performances are that the self-concept of boys is higher than girls,and the only child has a higher level of self-concept than the non-only child.(4)Among primary school students,self-esteem plays a full mediation role in the influence of academic achievement on self-concept.The higher the academic achievement of primary school students,the higher the level of self-esteem and the higher the self-concept.(5)Among primary school students,social comparison and self-esteem play a chain mediating role in the influence of academic achievement on self-concept.The role of chain mediation is through positive comparison,downward comparison,self-depreciation and comparative tendency in social comparison.The role of chain mediation of reaction calm is not significant.
