Metaphor And Education

Metaphor is a kind of human peculiar cultural phenomenon. Since 1970s, metaphor has become a hot topic. Metaphor plays a great role in education. This thesis will research the relationship between metaphor and education mainly to improve teaching quality and make students develop. This paper utilizes document law and information analysis law to analysis the relation of metaphor and education, and makes own suggestion on this foundation for how to utilize metaphor in education. It is divided into four parts.Part I: The meaning of metaphor and its essential feature.metaphor is a kind of common language form which exists in the life of people. In recent years, metaphor has already been changed from the research object of the traditional research rhetoric into the research object of many subjects, in this part ,the author will analysis its meaning in the following six aspects: the similarities and differences of metaphor meaning based on the eastern and western culture background, the rhetoric meaning of metaphor, the annotation meaning of metaphor , the philosophy meaning of metaphor, the religion meaning of metaphor and the educational meaning of metaphor, sum up the essential feature of metaphor finally: Metaphor language is a kind of spirit describe , is a kind of spiritual existence , is existent home of human spirit.Part II: The phenomenon analysis of metaphor in education.The phenomenon analysis of metaphor in education, on the one hand can understand which aspects metaphor can be utilized in education, on the other hand, also establish foundation to how to utilize metaphor in educating.In this part, the metaphor language with educational meaning, the metaphor phenomenon in course, the metaphor phenomenon of teacher, the metaphor phenomenon of school organization way, the metaphor phenomenon in campus cultural environment and the metaphor phenomenon in school human communication are analyzed, it will let us understand that there are numerous metaphor phenomenon in educating and establish a foundation for studying the value of metaphor in education further,Part III: The value of metaphor in education.metaphor has great value in education, its value is embodied in many fields education, it also has certain value in humane education ,creative education, course reform and the education of aesthetic education .In this part, the value of metaphor in humane education will be emphatically introduced, metaphor is a important way foreasy understanding, is the important passageway for mixing humane studies, is the important mechanism of humanity creation , is an important form for spirit living forever to rely on. Metaphor also has important value in creating education, metaphor can awaken the creation ability of students and strengthen their innovation consciousness; Metaphor is the important channel for scientific discovery. Analyzing the value of metaphor in education, it is to let readers know that metaphor has great roles in education, so people can use the language which is more humanities in education and make our education has much human nature.Part IV: The application strategy of metaphor in education.Based on above analysis, the author make suggestions about how to utilize metaphor in education, using metaphor should follow certain principles: the principle that unifies Logic language with metaphor language; The principle of integrating theory with practice; The principle that unifies Teacher leading role with student main ness, it is not to abuse metaphor language to follow the purpose of principle, it also make guidance for the use of metaphor language.In this part, metaphor language is utilized mainly in three aspects- campus cultural aspect, teacher aspect and course aspect, in campus culture aspect, campus environment, school organization and class are mainly discussed. In the aspect of teacher, mainly discussed how to improve teacher' quality and teacher's ability of utilizing metaphor and suggest that teacher should use the metaphor language in teaching course.
