As a way of studying, a theory of teaching and a strategy of teaching, the Inquiry Study refers a studying activity that students do actively in general. It's suitable for students to use to study all subjects. Compared with the way of traditional teaching, the Inquiry Study has the characteristics of practicality, opening, independence and process. The inquiry study can help students cultivate their spirits of being glad to make a thorough inquiry and working hard to seek knowledge, strengthen their question consciousness and information consciousness, improve their abilities of getting and dealing with information initiatively, the ability of solving problems with knowledge comprehensively and the ability of communication and cooperation. In addition, it's also good for students to form their social sense of responsibility and obtain the positive emotional experience of participating in scientific research by themselves.The scientific and technological progress results in the accelerating speed of the developing in job and the changing of professional knowledge and technical ability with each passing day. Nowadays, it has become the important sign of high quality labourers to have skillful technical ability of job and can continuously renew professional knowledge and skills and improve the ability of meeting the change of jobs. As a way to offer professional technicians for the posts of producing, serving and manage, the vocational and technical education should meet the change and the progress in era, meet the demand for personnel training of economic development, pay attention to training the student's study enthusiasm, their desire to make a thorough inquiry and their innovational spirit, improve student's practice ability, the independent ability to work and synthesis quality, strong student's independent spirit, cooperative spirit and enterprising spirit and bring up new-type talents who can meet the development of 21st century. And the inquiry study carried out in `secondary vocational schools accords with the demand for personnel training of economic development because it contributes to training the student's initiative spirit and practice ability, developing the student's vocational skill and ability and training the student's professional accomplishment and key ability. It also contributes to helping the secondary vocational schools to set up the characteristic majors and form the distinguishing feature of running a school and carrying out the reform of vocational education. Although it has a great meaning to carry out the inquiry study in vocational schools, there is requirement to do so. In order to carry out the inquiry study in vocational schools successfully, the schools' characteristic majors and the distinguishing feature of running a school must be considered so that it's possible to fully excavate advantages of the inquiry study, dispel the factor of adverse effect and take the feasible measure.
