The purpose of this study is to investigate language learning motivation and strategy use amongst junior high school EFL(English as a foreign anguage) students in Macau. The results of this study are based on questionnaires. The following conclusions were found:1. Language learning motivation(mean=3.15) and strategy use(mean=2.88) amongst junior high school EFL students in Macau tend to be medium level.2. The level of students' Ego-enhancement Drive motivation is the highest.3. These students reported using Compensation Strategies and Social Strategies most frequently.4. Female students' level of language learning motivation is significantly higher than male student's level of language learning motivation.5. Significant differences between different grades in their language learning motivation and the use of language learning strategies were obtained.6. Significant correlations between strategy use and motivation types were obtained in the current study.We gave the suggestions to the school administrators, teachers, and education authorities according to the results of this study. Finally, we also gave the suggestionspertaining to the situation in reality practice of this study for the prospective study.
