The traditional English teaching is characterized by emphasizing Learning Language knowledge, taking words, sentences and grammar as the dominant factors and separating the language from the culture. Accordingly it leads to students' incorrect receiving of listening and reading material and indecent contents and styles, if speaking and writing for lack of cultural knowledge, hi view of the above, English teaching in middle school shouldn't be pure practice in language and skills separated from culture environment but should pay more attention to the relationship between language and culture. Therefore, this paper points out that cultural contents should be penetrated properly into English teaching in middle school, that is to say, English teachers ought to teach cultural knowledge on their own initiatives so as not only to enrich and improve English teaching, but also to help students to communicate with English natives in English in a correct, proper and decent way.In teaching English as a foreign language, the importance of teaching culture has been widely recognized. However how to teach culture in foreign language education is a problem faced by language educators all over the world. In the present dissertation, the concerning linguistic theories and various ways of teaching foreign culture in the English classroom will be surveyed and studied in the light of Chinese situation. The present dissertation stresses that culture teaching is very essential in the English language education. The teaching of language and the teaching of culture are of the same importance in the English classroom.The paper is divided into five parts:Part One is an introduction, stating the importance of culture teaching in foreign language education.Part two concentrates on the relations between language and culture. Language and culture are closely related..Part three According to the results from the investigations and experimentsexpress the role of acculturation in FLT.Part four is about the acquirements for teachers in the course of cultural penetration in English teaching in middle school. Teachers should acquire correct standpoints of teaching and students, comprehend deeply the relationship between language and culture and help students to all-around develop.Part five is the conclusion. This chapter make a simple summary, pointing out culture teaching should go along with the language teaching in the Foreign Language Teaching.
