As we all know,language and culture rely on each other and influence each other.Language is the important means of communication,and it is the carrier of culture and a part of culture.Any language was born with the formation of its culture,and develops along with its culture.So,the process of our second language learning can be inextricably linked to the learning of culture.For example,the relationship between acculturation model and second language acquisition shows that,during the learning process of adaptation to the new culture,second language acquisition is viewed as an aspect of acculturation.Various factors affect learners' social and mental distance in learning the target culture,and have an effect on acquisition speed and final success of second language learning.Schumann thinks that the second language acquisition is an aspect of language and culture transfer,and the degree of acculturation will control the second language acquisition.In our country,English learning can be seen as a special manifestation of second language acquisition.Vocabulary,as one of the important components in language learning,is essential and important to people's communication and language learning.One of the eminent linguists Wilkins once said that without grammar,very little can be conveyed,without vocabulary,nothing can be conveyed.This study combines acculturation model with vocabulary teaching,aiming to find out how to apply acculturation model to English vocabulary teaching.This thesis uses three instruments: Tests,questionnaires and interview.Besides,it mainly uses quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis to validate the following hypotheses: first,introduction of cultural knowledge in English vocabulary teaching in junior middle school can promote students' semantic understanding and vocabulary learning efficiency;second,the introduction of cultural knowledge in English vocabulary teaching in junior middle school is beneficial to arouse students' non intelligence factors,stimulate students' curiosity about English language and its culture,mobilize students' learning enthusiasm,and encourage students' continuous learning motivation;third,introduction of cultural knowledge in English vocabulary teaching in junior middle school can help students accumulate necessary cultural knowledge and improve their sensitivity and judgment to cultural similarities and differences;fourth,adaptation to principles and methods of intercultural communication can help students achieve language knowledge and improve their cultural knowledge which can lay a solid foundation for cross-cultural communication.This study through the entire experiment put forward the necessity of culture teaching in vocabulary teaching,and the methods of how to introduce cultural knowledge.Culture teaching can improve the students' interests in learning English.To a certain extent,it can change the unreasonable method of students' vocabulary learning,stimulate students' vocabulary learning motivation,and enhance the students' subject vocabulary learning awareness and participation awareness of cooperation,so as to encourage the English learning level.
