This thesis pays special attention to the research of student movement while introducing theNational University and generalizing its characteristics. Through interpreting the causes andresults of two major student movements of the National University, concluding the catalyst andrepercussions of student movement, this paper tries to explain why the National Universitycollapsed, thus explaining the relationship between the student movement and the rise and fall ofthe National University. This thesis constitutes of four parts. The first part will discuss the origin and general pictureof the National University: how it emerges from the Anti-deregulation Student Movement; howit operates as a school, the situation of teacher force and students; and finally, how it ischaracterized by frequent student movements. The second and third part will be dedicated to the research of the National Universitystudent movements. Two large-scale student movements will be discussed in the second part.The third part mainly deals with the causes of the National University and its social background.while giving sound analysis and assessment of its influence, this part will also reveal therelationship between the tides of student movements and the demise of the National University. Conclusion will be drawn in the last part together with some thoughts the writer had in writing this thesis.
