The direction of the reform of the basic education in China is now heading from theoriginal single mode of national course to a mode of a three-level management system bynation, locality, and school, resulting in "School-based curriculum". "School-basedcurriculum" is a course which is based on school, and can be freely chosen by the students,with teachers and students as its major part. It is participated by experts, parents, and otherpeople from the community as well. Guaranteeing the unity of the basic requirement ofeducation of our country, school-based curriculum emphasizes on the differences of students,the full play of their personal potentiality, and the features of schools. The new round ofcourse reform provides a wider space for development for school-based curriculum. Based on the biology teaching of senior high school, and combined with the investigationand practice of the author towards the development of the course of biology of her school, thisessay explores and studies the theory foundation and the value of school-based curriculum,making it clear the content and characteristics of the development of school-based curriculum.At the same time, it provides us with some problems and measures to the problems during thecourse of fixing the goal, choosing and organizing the content, and the procedures of carry outschool-based curriculum.
