The ocean is an important support for the existence of humanity. The ability of nation orrace to develop and make use of the ocean, to strive for and keep rights to the ocean, reflectsnot only the strength of the nation, but also its understanding degree of the ocean's value.China is a country with large ocean, and the Chinese people is one of the races whichdeveloped and made use of the ocean earliest in the world. But China dropped from theposition of an ocean power during the last 500 years, because all the Chinese people did notset up the modern consciousness to ocean. The Chinese people, which once owned the mostpowerful navy throughout the world during the past 100 years, was defeated by the westernimperial powers, and became their colony. This is a very miserable historical lesson.Humanity has come into the ocean era today, so the fights for rights to the ocean are morefierce and complicated in the world. The Chinese people is facing the severe challenge again,when developing and making use of the ocean, keeping rights to the ocean. But the key tofacing the arrival of the ocean era is to make every citizen set up strong ocean consciousness.This paper discusses and explains in detail how to train high school students' oceanconsciousness during teaching history lessons.The main text is divided into three parts. First, defining the ocean consciousness of high school students. This part explains the concept of consciousness, ocean consciousness and high schoolstudents' ocean consciousness. Second, the importance of training high school students' ocean consciousness. By means of investigations on the network and the investigational tests designed by theauthor, she found out the existing condition that our citizens, including high school students inJilin Province, have very weak ocean consciousness. This part tells the reasons for theshortage of high school students' ocean consciousness, the importance and urgency ofstrengthening the education of high school students' ocean consciousness. Third, developing topics of the ocean consciousness in high school history teachingmaterials. Uniting teaching materials and the practical state of school students, focus on developingterritorial ocean, tour ocean resources, the ocean economy, and the ocean safety. And usethem as main historical materials of training high school students' ocean consciousness. Fourth, infiltrating the ocean consciousness into high school history teaching materials.
