Teaching of Wenyanwen(shortened to wyw in the following)—ancient Chinese literarylanguage—has always been a big problem in the high school's Chinese languageteaching.For sores of years the necessity of the existing of wyw's teaching has been widely discussed in the educational circle ,and some achievements have been gained.Being different from some of the past educational reforms whose paces were small,the reforming of the new curriculum is high-powered and unprecedented, facing the 21st century and aiming at the chronic problem in basic education. The reforms of new curriculum promote the changing of teachers'role,the cultivating of language accomplishments, learning in a self-determined and cooperative manner, and the accelerating of the students' balanced development in an individual style, which will have a great revealing and pushing effect on the teaching of wyw. This essay analyzes the actuality of the teaching of wyw on the stage and the reasons for its formation, deals with the three tasks assumed by the teaching of wyw in the new curriculum, and puts forward four ways to improve the quality of the teaching of wyw.Based on the new curriculum criterion,this essay uses the advanced educational and teaching ideas of the west for reference, and airs its own point of view on the teaching of wyw at present. All the examples listed root in the years of teaching experience of my own and other members of the teaching group,so this essay has authenticity and is very practical.
