Cause and effect is a common law in nature and human society. Individual's attribution to one thing can have strong effects on the level of motivation and enthusiasm of the subsequent behavior. Weiner's study demonstrated that students always attribute their achievements and tasks to certain factors in educational and teaching circumstances, in addition, some attributions are better that the others to students' psychological and subsequent study behavior. In basketball teaching, teachers, as the main factors which affect students' attribution, may convert students' success or failure attribution to the positive side in terms of teacher talk, behavior, and teaching strategy. The current paper, based on attribution theory and incorporated with teaching practice of basketball motion skills, tries to search for feasible mode and method of attribution training through investigation, which can provide instructions to college basketball teaching practice and also some innovative ways to enhance teaching quality. The research objects are JILIN Normal University of two optional basketball classes in general college. One is experiment class, the other comparison class.Attribution training is carried out in the experiment class, while none attribution training was done on the comparison class. The experiment is divided into the following four stages: circumstantial experience, pre-measurement, education intervention, and after-measurement. Several findings are revealed after experiment: (1) Attribution training carried out in general college basketball classes can convert students' success or failure attribution to the positive side. (2) Students' motivation for searching for success is significantly strengthened by attribution training, while there is a slight decrease in the motivation of avoiding failure, furthermore, there is a remarkable enhancement in students' achievement motivation. (3) Endeavor and learning strategy in attribution training can accelerate students' improvement in academic records.
