Student evaluation of teaching was started in America in the 1920s, and regarded as the most common resources for collecting teaching validity and the most important standard for checking teachers' task. In the late 1980s, our country formally started and put it into force .So far, it has been widely applied to the evaluation both in university and middle school. Therefore, the research into student evaluation of teaching is of great significance and importance in reality.As to student evaluation of teaching, researches both abroad and at home have conducted discussions on its validity, the factors affecting the students' evaluation, and measures improving students' evaluation. However, all the researchers put emphasis on either theory of evaluation or on the conclusion to the experience of evaluation practice, instead experimental demonstrations are fewer .the whole processof evaluation can't reflect the ideas of two evaluating parts -- teachers andstudents .On one hand, researchers pay more attention to the evaluation from the university students, on the other hand, they put less attention to that of middle school students .For this reason, this research mainly refer to middle school students' evaluation .With the methods of questionnaires and interviews ,with the purpose of knowing about opinions of two evaluating parts on such questions as how to evaluate ,why to evaluate and so on ,on the basis of a good knowledge of current condition of students' evaluation , we should recognize some problems in relation to evaluation ,raise effective strategies to enhance the evaluation . The main discoveries of this research:1. Both teachers and students are in favor of this evaluation, but students rather than teachers have more faith in the ability of evaluation .In addition, with a view to evaluating ability there exist some differences between city and rural areas, males and females and teaching levels. Concretely speaking, teachers in rural areas, men teachers, and top teachers with high teaching levels are willing to believe that students are more qualified in making evaluation, that students can give their teachers a comparatively all-sided and objective evaluation.2. According to all the students and teachers, not the students' grades but the factors curriculum may have effect on teaching evaluation.3. The existing problem about student evaluation of teaching is as follows: Schools just take student evaluation of teaching as tool of administration; index system is simply; teachers and students participate less in index system's making; the feedback of evaluation activities is inaccurate and so on...In order to enhance the validity of student evaluation of teaching, we should put it in a proper orientation; make out a proper index system for evaluation with teachers and students; make the students understand evaluation more; feed back the result of evaluation effectively.
