Student evaluation is an important component of curriculum evaluation, withsignificant meaning in middle school and elementary school. Through comprehending theneeds of students, improving education and courses, etc, student evaluation gets the finalobjective to improve the development of students. Affected by the limitation of age, thecharacteristic of subject, education system, the evaluation views of teachers and othersubjective and objective factors, the traditional student evaluation in our country ignoresthe self-evaluation of students, pays attention to the education results and ignores thebehaviors in education activities, the evaluation method is single and teachers lackrelevant knowledge of evaluation theory and methods. These affect the quality of arteducation and hinder the all-around development of students'art quality. With thedevelopment of the time, the requirement of quality education and the implement of newround course reformation, the student evaluation in art education get more recognition.Through researching the development and present situation of student evaluation, theevaluation theory and methods, this article considers under the concept of Post-moderncourse, art instructors should carry out the requirement of "compulsory education artcourse standard"and set up a concept of "art subject qualitative student evaluation". Whenthey do the student evaluation, they should combine the qualitative evaluation with thequantitative evaluation, and apply the multi-agent student evaluation, recognize themultiple values of evaluation and the student self evaluation, recognize the evaluation ofbehaviors in education activities, evaluate students'works with several methods, etc. Atthe same time, this article emphasizes the introduction of portfolio evaluation and Socraticseminars. These two kinds of typical qualitative evaluation summarize some theory andmethods which teachers can use as reference, to improve the functions and effects ofqualitative evaluation in art education, and do my bit to the education for the all-rounddevelopment of students'art quality.
